Incompatibility between terminal mooring equipment and shipboard fittings can prejudice both the security of the mooring system and safety of personnel. It can prolong the time taken for mooring operations. These difficulties are overcome by ensuring that the equipment and fittings provide for correct matching between the shore and the ship.
