Stewart Island is New Zealand's third main island, located south of the South Island. It is a hard and unforgiving part of the country with a tough climate and strong tides - it is the last civilised island before decending into the Roaring Forties of theSouthern Ocean. It does however, have two excellent harbours. This guide, with its series of sketch plans and carefully researched text is a must for those wishing to visit.
